Manually Operated Actuators, NovAseptic Range

NovAseptic valves are renowned for their performance, reliability, longevity and ease of maintenance. The design and development of each component draw on more than 35 years of experience focused on aseptic design. NovAseptic valves comply with the design qualification criteria established by current GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) for aseptic processes. This is why we have chosen to describe these valves as aseptic by design.

The range was originally developed to address the challenges of tank bottom valves: no dead zone, self-draining and fully drainable, low pressure drop, the smallest possible weld-in flange diameter to bring the agitator closer to the centre of the tank, very simple maintenance since this valve is generally not accessible, diaphragms suited to the materials of pharmaceutical process tanks, and compact or right-angle actuators. This design was then extended to 2-way or 3-way valves, offering an aseptic alternative to the in-line diaphragm valve.

The range is modular. NovAseptic valve bodies are available in imperial sizes, from 1/2″ to 3″. On each body configuration with the same process connection diameter, all diaphragms, actuators and accessories of that same size can be fitted.

Manual actuators for NovAseptic valves

Manual operation, stainless steel or stainless steel base, autoclavable, disengageable or with right-angle drive

Manually operated actuators for NovAseptic valves, from the stainless steel base model with plastic handle to the all-stainless autoclavable model. Four versions depending on cleaning requirements, accessibility and the need for disengagement or a right-angle drive. Fit all NovAseptic bodies of the same diameter, from 1/2″ to 3″, tank bottom and process alike.

Role and selection

The manual actuator opens and closes the valve by hand, without compressed air or electrical power. It is the solution for locally controlled points, lines without an air network, and valves operated occasionally. Four versions cover cleaning and access constraints.

The choice depends on the environment and access. The all-stainless autoclavable model for washed and sterilised areas, the stainless steel base with plastic handle for controlled cost outside critical areas, the disengageable model to decouple operation, the right-angle drive to operate a hard-to-reach valve such as a tank bottom valve.

The type 180 right-angle drive offsets the control, which directly addresses the accessibility constraint of tank bottom valves, often installed beneath the tank.

Frequently asked questions

Which manual actuator should I choose?

The all-stainless autoclavable type 170 in washed and sterilised areas. The stainless steel base with plastic handle type 150 outside critical areas. The disengageable NA12 170 to decouple control. The type 180 right-angle drive on a hard-to-reach valve.

Why a right-angle drive?

To operate a valve installed in a hard-to-reach location, typically a tank bottom valve located beneath the tank. The right-angle drive offsets the handle to a position the operator can reach.

Do they fit all bodies?

Yes, on all NovAseptic bodies of the same diameter, tank bottom and process alike. Modularity guarantees interchangeability at equal diameter.
